Filtertron
This is my take on the Filtertron, built for clarity, punch, and chime but without the harsh top end that plagues many modern versions.
Wound with 42 AWG formvar wire and paired with Alnico 5 magnets, this set delivers a tight low end, open midrange, and a crisp top that stays musical under gain.
The bridge pickup (4.0kΩ / 1.5H) has a focused attack with plenty of snap and bite, ideal for cutting through a mix without sounding brittle.
The neck pickup (3.5kΩ / 1.2H) is clear and rounded, with a smooth top end that avoids mud while retaining warmth.
Compared to a typical humbucker, these sit lower in output with faster transient response and greater note separation; perfect for players who want definition, dynamics, and that classic Gretsch sparkle.
