The HB Sized Staple combines the distinctive response of individual Alnico V staple magnets with a wider coil designed to fit a humbucker route.
Wound to approximately 8kΩ using 43 AWG Plain Enamel wire, it’s designed to deliver a full, punchy single coil sound while retaining excellent clarity and dynamics.
Unlike a conventional humbucker, there are no steel screws and slugs coupled to a bar magnet. Instead, the Alnico V staples are the magnets themselves, creating a different magnetic circuit and giving the pickup an immediate, responsive attack.
The wider coil geometry gives it a broader, fuller character than a traditional narrow single coil, with a strong midrange and plenty of weight, while the staple construction helps retain definition and an open top end.
Clean, it has plenty of detail and character. When pushed with overdrive it becomes thick and aggressive without losing the individual notes within chords. It also pairs well with fuzz, where its single coil dynamics come through.
A great option for players who want something fuller than a traditional single coil, but more open and dynamic than a conventional HB.
