Strat Sized Staple Single Coil

Strat-Sized Staple Pickup – Vintage Warmth with Modern Clarity

The Staple Strat Pickup reimagines the traditional Stratocaster voice. At its heart are Alnico 5 staple magnets, which create a broader magnetic aperture and a subtly different flux pattern compared to traditional rod poles. The result is more even string-to-string balance and heightened sensitivity to your playing dynamics.

Each coil is wound with 43 AWG plain enamel wire, allowing more turns without an excessive rise in DC resistance. This lifts output and enhances midrange presence while keeping the top end articulate. The bridge pickup is wound to around 8.5 kΩ for a hotter, harmonically rich response, while the neck and middle are slightly under-wound to 8 kΩ for clarity and openness.

From a technical perspective, the pickups measure about 2.8 Henries of inductance, higher than a typical Strat coil (often 2.2–2.4 H). This comes from the coil design and winding, not the magnets themselves, and it translates into a warmer low end and more pronounced mids while still retaining that trademark sparkle and chime.

Key Features

  • Alnico 5 staple magnets – wide magnetic aperture for consistent string response and dynamic playing feel

  • 43 AWG plain enamel winding – richer midrange and higher output without sacrificing articulation

  • Inductance: ~2.8 H

  • Resistance: 8.5 kΩ (Bridge), 8 kΩ (Neck/Middle)

  • Reverse-wound middle pickup available for hum-cancelling in positions 2 & 4

  • Fits most Strat pick-guard and cavities (70mm x 18.1mm)

How It Compares to a Traditional Strat Pickup

  1. Warmer, Smoother Tone – More midrange presence and an even response across the strings, reducing the trademark Strat “scoop” while keeping note clarity.

  2. Stronger Low End – The staple polepieces interact differently with the strings, giving a deeper, fuller bass response.

  3. Higher Output – Extra turns of 43 AWG winding raise inductance and output, delivering sustain and punch beyond a vintage Strat set.

  4. Refined Pick Attack – Still clear and articulate, but with a smoother, more controlled top end—ideal for expressive blues, jazz, and refined rock tones.

Specs:

• Resistance: 8.6k

• Inductance: 2.8H

• Magnets: Alnico V Staple

• Construction: Precision-wound coil for a balance of vintage warmth and modern clarity

• Tone Characteristics: Bold lows, smooth mids, and crisp highs—ideal for players seeking a refined single-coil experience

Perfect for blues, rock, jazz and beyond, this pickup is a versatile upgrade for any guitarist looking for enhanced dynamics, sustain, and note definition all while keeping the familiar Strat format intact.
